Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry Child's First Visit
Riverdale Pediatric Dentistry follows the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry guidelines which recommend that children
receive their first dental visit by their first birthday.
This allows the dentists the opportunity to review your child's oral health and discuss such topics as; bottle feeding,
bottle weaning, nursing, pacifier sucking, thumb sucking habits, diet, oral hygiene, and much more. Also, this first
visit provides the parents the opportunity to ask any questions that they may have.
Unfortunately, we see too many very young children with dental decay. This is why we stress prevention
methods with the parents. Our goal is simple, PREVENTION.
In addition, children who start coming to a dentist at an early age and receive structured follow-up care every 6 months
thereafter become more familiar and comfortable within the dental setting. This often facilitates a more positive
dental experience in the event that a child should need dental work in the future.
